The media has started to smell the news of Nico and Valgeir collaborating on the music for the world's first "ScentOpera", to be premiered at the Guggenheim Museum on May 31st. The libretto consists of scents by fragrance designer Christophe Laudamiel and forms a narrative together with the music. Director is Stewart Matthew.

...Now, in the latest salvo of Muhly’s comprehensive assault on the realm of the senses, he’s teaming up with director Stewart Matthew, fragrance designer Christophe Laudamiel and musician-producer Valgeir Sigurdsson for Green Aria, the world’s first “ScentOpera,” at the Guggenheim Museum May 31 and June 1. According to the press release, audience members will listen to music by Muhly and Sigurdsson in a darkened room while a “scent organ,” designed by Fläkt Woods, triggers “scent microphones” attached to each seat, which will emit suggestive scents to tell the story. We’re oddly fascinated by the notion…but then, we’ve always been suckers for a pungent gimmick....

Sam Amidon has just returned from a tour where he opened for singer Jolie Holland as well as performing with her band.
Sam’s own spectacular show is always sure to surprise and even confuse his audience but we believe that he may have reached new heights here when we read this incredible review by blogger and aspiring music-criticDavid Harfield.

Letting your retarded friend open a show for you is either a benevolent act of charity, or a shrewd ploy to lower audience expectations; either way, after Sam Amidon’s support set that consisted of tuneless, banjo-accompanied sea shanties, each interrupted by nonsensical monologues and culminating with a break-dancing finale, any performance Jolie Holland had churned out would have been greeted with warm enthusiasm by the audience at Ruby Lounge, Manchester.

If you have ben visiting our website lately you could be thinking that we had nothing to report, but little could be further from the truth...
Following a hard-disk crash our web department was left paralyzed and it’s only now that we are getting back on track, and with a brand new design too! We’ve noticed a steady increase in number of visitors on Bedroom Community’s website even though we’ve been unable to report anything new since we announced the pre-release information on Sam Amidon’s All is Well.
Bedroom Community and it’s members have all been flooded with activity at the same time, so we are looking forward to more frequent updates in the coming weeks.
One of the recent highlights has been the glowing reception of our latest release and we’ve updated the review section for All is Well. Sam Amidon has been on tour in the UK, playing solo or with a string quartet. There is more touring and live activity ahead for Sam, Valgeir Sigurðsson, Ben Frostand Nico Muhly. Until we get our Gig-section together, please watch each artist’s MySpace for details (click on their name for link).
We were also pleased to hear that our label was nominated for the 36th annual DV Cultural Award in Iceland. Out of the 5 nominees in the music category Amiina came first and we would like to congratulate them on this achievement!
