Two Daníel Premieres
Those in LA next Tuesday are in for a treat when two Daníel Bjarnason pieces will be premiered.
On October 16, the LA Phil New Music Group along with Thomas Gould (violin) and Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir (cello) will perform in Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The highlight of the evening is the world premiere of a brand new Daníel Bjarnason piece: Over Light Earth. Also included in the program is a West Coast premiere of Nico Muhly's Seeing is Believing, along with two other pieces arranged by Nico; Byrd's Two Motets and a traditional Icelandic twin-song (tvísöngur). Last but not least, the evening will see the US premiere of Daníel's Bow To String, in a new ensemble arrangement led by LA Phil Creative Chair John Adams.

What the press says
Processions deserves to be [Bjarnason's] global breakthrough. It’s the sound of fire and instinct, the musical equivalent of a controlled burn. Perhaps all sounds to silence come, but thanks to Bjarnason, that sonic Armageddon seems a long distance away.
