‘Music For 6 Guitars’ Video

The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative have posted a stunning video from Ben Frost's U.S. premiere of Music For 6 Guitars.

The performance created a dramatic closing to the Rolex Arts Weekend, held in November 2011. The New York Public Library proved an interesting place for the performance where Ben - along with guitarists Tim Hecker, Shahzad Ismaily, Paul Corley, Sarah Lipstate, Sarah Register and Daniel Rejmer, plus a brass sextet - shook the library's bookshelves.

Ben has previously said on the piece:

"It's like the last minute of a basketball game, when everyone finds this extra energy, and everything becomes manic and overtly physical and desperate. I wanted to make a piece that explored that kind of moment, but also opened it up and stretched it out to prolong it."
