The EP consists of five tracks and was recorded by Paul Evans at the Greenhouse Studios in Iceland and produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson. Performing Drones & Piano is award-winning pianist Bruce Brubaker, with contributions from Nico and violist Nadia Sirota.The piece was commissioned by the Irving S. Following a limited stream of our film Everything Everywhere All The Time in conjunction with the festival Air d'Islande, we've decided to release it on Icelandic Cinema Online. We will then be releasing the film later this year as a double DVD package featuring Everything Everywhere All The Time plus an exclusive concert film that that sees the finale of the Whale Watching Tour in all its glory. Some of you might have noticed the stunning artwork for the film. The artist, frequent Bedroom Community collaborator Ivan Khmelevsky, has made four different posters for each of the artists featured in Everything Everywhere All The Time. The trio presented a workshop performance of the piece - Planetarium - at the Dessner-curated MusicNOW! festival in Cincinnati followed by an official premiere in Eindhoven. The piece comprises of at least 11 movements; The Earth / Venus / Mercury / Saturn / The Moon / Pluto / The Sun / Uranus / Jupiter / Neptune. Following the performances of the piece on the recently finished mini tour, some fan videos started to circulate on the internet.We've gathered some of them below - check it out. The festival brings Icelandic culture to Paris and Chessy for a couple of days each year, this year from April 2 - 15 (Chessy) and April 10 - 15 (Paris). The program includes numerous concerts and happenings as well as film screenings. For this occasion we've compiled some of our best music videos and will be screening them at the festival. Furthermore, we're making our film Everything Everywhere All The Time streamable online until Air d'Islande closes on Sunday! It's only been screened a handful of times in Reykjavík and Copenhagen but is now free and open for all for the next couple of days. You can then expect a release of the film later this year as well as a concert film that sees the finale of the Whale Watching Tour in all its glory; a 90 minute long concert that took place in Iceland's National Theater in 2010. We're very proud to have had a hand in three brilliant albums at this year's JUNO awards; Colin Stetson's New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges, Tim Hecker's Ravedeath, 1972 and Feist's Metals. New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges was nominated in not one but two categories; as Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year and Instrumental Album of the Year. Mixed by Ben Frost at Greenhouse Studios. Feist was a prominent artist at this year's awards, winning Artist of the Year, Music DVD of the Year for Look At What The Light Did Now and Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Metals - co-produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson, Feist, Mocky and Chilly Gonzalez. Seven dancers and five actors set off in search of the ultimate high, an escape from the forces of our controlled liberal society, a departure into a life of unexpected intensity and unknown freedom. The coupling of the human species in the urban centres of the Western hemisphere has become extremely complex. And the ecstasy of love, our final utopia, has been transformed into a highly competitive market. Once love has been found, then the work begins: on our relationship and on ourselves. But where can we still find this ecstasy of feelings, the all-consuming passion which gives life its meaning and depth, this transcendent experience which lights up our secure everyday existence? Rausch is a music theatre production by Falk Richter (playwright and resident director at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus) and Anouk van Dijk (choreographer and founder of dance company anoukvandijk dc). The world premiere of the piece takes place in Düsseldorf on April 14th and will then be performed on April 15-19. Extensive supporting programme includes a dance workshop, video screenings, discussions and lectures as well as a special event on April 1st where Ben will host a listening session and discussion on the workings behind the score (free of charge and open to everyone). Blur/Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn always has a couple of projects up his sleeve. One you can start looking forward to hearing soon is Dr Dee - an opera about Elizabethan alchemist/magician John Dee, released on May 7th. The 18 songs were recorded at Albarn's studio in London with help from the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the album was mixed by Valgeir. Watch a trailer for the record below, and for further info click here.            May also sees the release of the unique collaboration of world-renowned violinist Hilary Hahn and prepared piano maestro Hauschka. The album - SILFRA - is the result of a few specific goals and a lot of improvisation: the pair purposefully arrived at Greenhouse studios with nothing written down. There they worked with Valgeir for ten days as co-producer and engineer, the process often so involving that - as Hahn puts it - “we were in such a concentrated mindset that we stayed in the album even when we weren’t playing”.
